posted on 23.04.10 Dream the Great Dream

Dreaming is something every human can do and because it is such an important altered state of consciousness various cultures over time have invented ways to hack this state for prognostication, divine help, healing and spiritual enlightenment. Anything is possible here, this royal road to the unconscious. If someone is interested in the energy body then coming to grips with the Dream and the Dreamer is something that cannot be overlooked.

One path is the Tibetan and here I present two unreleased lectures by a well respected scholar and monk, Orgyen Zangpo Rimpoche (top graduate of Lharung Ghar). These talks on Tibetan Lucid Dreaming Practice were recorded on two separate events on April 21, 2009 and May 12, 2009. The lecture was hosted by the good people at BCAS and translated in real time by Professor Robert Clark.

After lots of study of different aspects and types of dreaming practice, I still come away from these lectures with great gains in understanding. I have also included a transcript of the first lecture.

Enjoy and Sweet Dreams!

Note: The audio files are in WMA format only. The second lecture has lower audio output.

“The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.”

Atisha (11th century Tibetan Buddhist master)

These statements are some cherished words for me. I hope to experience and understand them all some day.

70 year-old Buddhist monk Hua Chi has been praying in the same spot at his temple in  Tongren, China for over 20 years. His footprints, which are up to 1.2 inches deep in some areas, are the result of performing his prayers up to 3000 times a day. Now that he is 70, he says that he has greatly reduced his quantity of prayers to 1,000 times each day.

Now that is a long standing practice to emulate. posted on 05.01.10

Tibetan Yoga Masters- Part 3.

  • Very rare color video. Tibetian monks in retreat, amazing! Notice how they don’t blink (for hours, no tears)- a true sign of high level meditation. Some of them have reached full liberation.

The last 3 faces you’ll see in the video are:

    1) His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma lineage in India

    B) Venerable Kalu Rinpoche, great realized master in the Kagyu lineage.

    C) His Holiness, the 16th Karmapa! The head of the Karma Kagyu lineage. A legendery realized master, said to have attained the ‘rainbow body’ feat.
